Mini Vinnies - Our Chaplaincy Team!
The Mini Vinnies are the youngest members of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP), an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance to people in need. The Mini Vinnies get together regularly to live out their mission of see, think, do, supporting their school community and beyond alongside the SVP.
Our Mini Vinnies are led by Mrs Gillott, and meet every other week to discuss ways we, as a school, can support our local community and work to improve our school community using the Catholic Social Teachings, weekly missions and school values.
Each year we receive lots of applications to join the Mini Vinnies from children of all faiths, who want to do what they can to make our school and wider community the best place it can be. Here are some of the ways the Mini Vinnies have guided our children in sharing joy and supporting the local community:
Good Shepherd Appeal 2026: The Mini Vinnies represented our school at St Marie's Cathedral in Sheffield for the annual Hallam Diocese and Caritas Good Shepherd Appeal Celebration. They presented a symbol of peace and our fundraising certificate to Father Matthew and a representative from Caritas. Afterwards they met with other St Clare trust schools in Victoria Hall for the very first St Clare Trust Fellowship Day. We planned and presented an element of a celebration of a word on the theme of Pentecost which was shared on the day.
Advent Window 2025: The Mini Vinnies helped to create our school Advent Window for the community midwinter window trail. We were door number 3 this year. We based our design around the theme of the Jubilee year Pilgrims of Hope. During Advent, the local community were able to log on to the Midwinter Window website and follow the trail of windows around the local area.
Reverse Advent Calendar 2025: The Mini Vinnies launched and help co-ordinate our reverse advent calendar 2025. We surpassed last years total gathering an amazing 277kg of food providing 661 meals, which was donated to the Burngreave Foodbank.
Teaching Assistant Appreciation: We wanted to show our amazing support staff just how valued they are, so our Mini Vinnies decided they wanted to give them all a certificate with a hand written message of thanks on.
Good Shepherd Appeal 2025: The Mini Vinnies travelled to St Pater in Chains Church Doncaster to celebrate our school taking part in Bishop Ralph's Good Shepherd Appeal.
